The Holy Cross Lutheran Charter was signed on December 13, 1960.  We celebrated our 50th Anniversary September 17-19, 2010.  It was a weekend that we will never forget!  We celebrated our anniversary in a number of ways, including an evening banquet at the Robert Livermore Community Center on Friday, September 17 at 6:30 pm, a community picnic at Del Valle Park on Saturday, September 18 at 12:30 pm, a Homecoming Worship Gathering on Sunday, September 19, 2010 followed by a community potluck immediately following the Worship Gathering.

Memory Books - Marilyn and Max Schell gathered, organized, and produced four books using pictures from members, including those from Bill Nale's library, showing people and events of Holy Cross from the earliest days to the present.  Two of the books are available for purchase: a small paperback for $20 and a larger bound one for $50.  Additionally, there are two very large books available for check out.  A donor has generously come forward to donate the cost of printing the books so that the
50/50 Challenge will receive the proceeds from the sales of the books.

Picture Directory - Marilyn Carstensen and her wonderful team organized photo shoots and updated names/addresses of members for a new pictorial directory.  Ultra-Spective Photography donated a directory and 8x10 picture to each family who had their picture taken.  Many members chose to purchase their pictures.  Every member received a directory.

A quilted wall-hanging crafted by Ruth Harder, Sandra Mollon, Jean McCabe, Donna Robson, and Jan Wolery will add a visual recognition of this special year.  Mike Bennett designed the artwork that inspired the wall-hanging.  It is currently on display in the Holy Cross Gathering Space.

Mugs and Wine Glasses were designed for this special event, and are available for $10.00 each.  Each item displays our 50th logo, designed by Cheri Brewster.

Charter Members - Donna Mapes interviewed charter members to record their memories of those early days at Holy Cross.  We hope to do more of that in the new months, before our real birthday in December.

A big thank you to Crafty Ladies donated $1000 to help defray the expense of mailings, and to all who have pitched in to make this 50th Anniversary Weekend an occasion that we will never forget.

May our Mission and Ministry be so blessed for the next 50 years to come!
